REVIEW: MIDNIGHT AT PERA PALACE  This weekend, I had some free time on Netflix and was immediately drawn to this drama. Agatha Christie, time travel, mystery, and a country on the verge of revolution? Please sign me up! This drama was easy to watch in one day because it only has eight episodes. Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Charles King, this series examines the rise of modern-day Turkey, specifically those who helped shape the city into what it is today. Esra is a journalist on the hunt for the next big story. She travels to Istanbul to visit the Pera Palace, a prestigious hotel known for both its intriguing history and mysterious supernatural occurrences. Esra is abruptly transported back in time to 1919 one fateful night. There, she meets a variety of historical figures, including Mr. Halit, who is not only the key to Esra's return to the present, but also to the election of Turkey's first president, Mustafa Kemal. How will Esra maintain the past's consisten...

SERIES REVIEW: THE GIFT

REVIEW: THE GIFT Genres: Science fiction, Mystery, Mythological thriller. I've always enjoyed Turkish television shows. This content, in my opinion, was the most epic and incomparable cinematic experience ever. The combination of stellar casting and acting talent, eye-catching location, stunning script writing, and perplexing camera angles transported me to another dimension. Every sequence and shot was a work of pure magical art and brilliance. Overall, based on my experience, I would need to create a new scale to rate this show.  This series is about human bonds, mystical events, mythological rituals, how far you will go for love, and the value of family and bonds. The series' most intriguing aspect is that it builds viewers' anticipation, and then we witness something unexpected that we never expected to see. The director and producers put so much emphasis on character development that after only a few episodes, I realised I was one of the characters in the show. Dialogu...

BOOK REVIEW: ALIF BY UMERA AHMED Umera Ahmed's novel Alif is about a fictional family. This novel investigates the relationship between spirituality and fiction. Alif is a treat to read for those who have read or are familiar with Umera Ahmed's work, such as Aab e Hayat and Peer E Kamil. It was a pleasant surprise for both Umera Ahmed fans and non-fans. Umera Ahmed is a well-known Urdu fiction novelist and screenwriter of her generation. Umera Ahmed has done an excellent job in writing this novel, intertwining spirituality, religion, and glamour. And as the story progresses, it is a brilliant work of art. The author is well-known for infusing her writing with a spiritual undertone. 'Alif' follows in the footsteps of her previous two novels, 'Aab e Hayat' and 'Peer Kaamil.' The novel is written entirely in Urdu. The author has beautifully penned a world of spirituality that we will all enjoy exploring. The six main characters in this story are Qalb e Mom...

REVIEW: BREAKING BAD

REVIEW: BREAKING BAD  I've never seen a show that is as authentic and engaging as Breaking Bad. This is without a doubt one of the best shows ever, and it keeps getting better as it goes. Walter White and Jesse Pinkman's journeys are unforgettable. These are some of the best-written characters to ever grace a piece of paper. My admiration for the acting and cinematography is limitless. Some of the shots are intricate works of art, and the acting was rarely distracting. The performances are so good that it feels inappropriate to call them performances. Overall, Breaking Bad is able to maintain the engagement and technical quality seen in only the best films, and in terms of tone, every episode is perfect. Overall, Breaking Bad is able to maintain the engagement and technical quality seen in only the best films, and in terms of tone, every intense moment is executed with excellence and always achieves the impact it seeks.
